Highgrade goes east! With Homm & Popoviciu the Berlin-gang grows in the eastern direction - to be specific: Romania.
Their musical output of both wasn't hard to spot, because Markus Homm and Mihai Popoviciu made a name for themselves for quite a while. No
wonder that their output spreads across several high-class labels like DJ Hell's International Deejay Gigolos, Pascal Feos' Non Zero Records,
as well as the british Immigrant and the spanish Sub Conce label. After their first strike - Highgrade Digital number 009, this is their first
vinyl EP on Highgrade.

Without any doubts they take the chance to demonstrate their most appreciated skills: on the the title-track
"Urban Ballroom" they send a massive house-groove to a trip, alongside with a swinging bassline, decent melodylines and some springy
percussions, combining perfectly funkyness and deepness. "Contact" and "Wipp" on the flipside are convincing in the same
versed way. The former slightly more dubby, the latter comes up with a little more speed. All in all forming an EP cast from the same mould,
while the title "Urban Ballroom" says it all. Homm & Popoviciu are delivering a new housy shade for the labelsound, which suites
Highgrade perfectly!

Highgrade goes east! Mit dem Duo Homm & Popoviciu bekommt die Berliner-Clique nun Zuwachs östlicher Abstammung - sprich:
Rumänien. Das musikalische Schaffen der beiden war auch schwer zu übersehen, schließlich machen Markus Homm und Mihai Popoviciu
schon eine Weile von sich reden. Zu ihrem Output gehörten Tracks auf DJ Hells International Deejay Gigolos. Pascal Feos' Non Zero Records,
wie auch das englische Immigrant oder das spanische Sub Conce Label. Nach ihrem Erstling auf Highgrade Digital Nummer 009 folgt nun ihre erste
Vinyl EP.

Selbstredend nutzen die beiden die Chance, um ihre Paradetugenden an den Tag zu legen: So schicken sie im Titeltrack
"Urban Ballroom" eien massigen Housegroove auf die Reise, zusammen mit einer swingenden Bassline, dezenten Melodie-Läufen und
federnden Percussions vereinen sie so gekonnt Tiefe und Funkyness. "Contact" und "Wipp" auf der Flipside überzeugen
gleichermaßen versiert, ersterer etwas dubbiger, letzterer legt in Sachen Tempo noch mal etwas nach. Eine EP wie aus einem Guss, bei der
der Name "Urban Ballroom" Programm ist. Gleichzeitig liefert sie eine neue Klangfacette im Labelsound, die Highgrade hervorragend zu
Gesicht steht.
